Graduation from aschool of nursing in practical nursing required

Maintain harmoniousrelationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, hospital administration,and all hospital departments.

Essential Functions

Possess the knowledgeto safely apply theory and practice while performing functions of a LPN asdelegated.

Coordinates assignmentsin a manner to ensure that patient needs are provided in an efficient manner.

Possess knowledge ofsterile technique, maintaining a sterile environment, and how to decontaminateand process equipment.

Possess knowledge ofsurgical instrumentation and able to scrub and/or assist on Endoscopy cases andall surgical procedures.

Be able toproblem-solve effectively to provide quality patient care.

Provide excellentcustomer service including patient education.

Works with all agegroups including infants, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Be familiar withParagon applications (order management and clinical assessments) fordocumentation purposes.

Possess the knowledgeto use PYXIS medication delivery system.

Ability to completeassigned workload in a safe and effective time frame.

Professionalism –applies knowledge to practice through participation in performance improvementactivities.

Pursues ongoingcontinuing education to remain current in practice.

Complies withregulatory requirements and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals inaccordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Productivity – ensurescompletion of assigned workloads and moves to unassigned work at own initiative.

Documentation isreflective of care provided to ensure accurate charges are placed.

Consistentlycommunicates to co-workers, medical staff, ancillary departments and customersto promote a collaborative and cooperative environment.

Completes/attends allrequired in-services and unit staff meetings.

Effectively followsleader’s direction to meet patient/family learning needs.

Functional Demands

Work requires physicalability such as walking, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting heavyobjects/patients (patients 300+ pounds), stooping and climbing stairs.

Walking intermittentlythrough halls of hospital and outside.

May be exposed to badweather when escorting a discharged patient to their vehicle.

Involves mentalactivity and problem-solving, to include the ability to implement solutions.

May be exposed toinjury by irrational or disturbed patients, patients with communicablediseases, and/or potentially dangerous equipment.

Risk of exposure toinfectious diseases and hazardous materials.

Exposure to blood,body fluid and hazardous wastes is moderate to frequent and must carry outuniversal precautions according to hospital policy.

Bending requiredfrequently, 45-90 degree angles, to check patients, to operate machinery.

Speech, hearing,reading, writing and visual acuity necessary in order to perform jobrequirements.
