Job DescriptionAt Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you’ll be part of a team helping to make homeownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.Position Overview:The Division Risk Officer within the Finance Division is responsible for identifying, assessing, managing, controlling and reporting on all risks that impact the division.

Responsibilities include execution of first line risk activities, defining consistent governance and risk and control framework, developing operational risk reporting and embedding operational risk practices into Finance.

The Division Risk Officer is seeking an Operational Risk Manager to develop and drive control framework approaches for our operations.

This individual will undertake assessments of business unit exposures, identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact and reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the department’s existing controls, and coordinating the self-testing as needed.

The hired candidate will work with other functions to develop and implement controls that mitigate risks.

Once the controls are in place, continue to supervise control compliance and the risk environment to help ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels.Our Impact:* Drive operational risk awareness and develop by instituting risk framework; develop appropriate standard of care* Lead the identification and documentation of relevant risks and controls for the New Capital Rule implementation* Support enterprise efforts related to gap assessments, compliance, and implementation of the Information Risk and Technology Risk policies and standards.* Lead the development of operational risk reporting, including risk profile, issue management and providing input into risk appetite efforts and identification of key risk indicators* Ensure consistency in implementation and compliance of applicable corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines* Oversee the timely remediation of risk issues and control failures* Execute first line risk activities consistent with the corporate frameworkYour Impact:* Coordinate with Finance Capital team and other business process owners to drive consistency in risk identification and assessment and related documentation* Partner with the Divisional Data Officer and team to put in place data governance procedures, develop risk appetite and related indicators for Information Risk and to drive consistency of data standards across Finance* Build strong relationships and interact with senior management* Collaborate with enterprise operational risk in developing and modifying company policies and standards* Be the voice for Finance in various working groups established to mature operational risk firmwide* Develop divisional procedures and train departments in Finance to drive consistent implementation* Work closely with divisional management to identify and implement the necessary risk and controls; help ensure standards requirements are embedded in business processes and functions* Follow up on issues with appropriate parties to ensure their resolution and/or raise issues in a timely fashionQualifications:* 8+ years of related professional work experience, at a financial services institution* Bachelor’s degree in Business, related field or equivalent work experience* Strong business acumen and problem-solving ability* Excellent oral and written communications skills* Strong ability to manage multiple efforts simultaneously* Ability to work effectively with continuous change and short deadlines* Strong relationship skills Ability to work effectively with diverse group of partners* Ability to communicate effectively with team members, partners, and management* MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Word, MS VisioKeys to Success in this Role:* 5-7+ years’ experience in operational risk management and practices* Financial services experience* Outstanding oral and written communications skills* Knowledge of data quality management operational controls (data validation, monitoring and reporting) and system development methodologies* Big Four Accounting Firm experience a plusCurrent Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site.Today, Freddie Mac makes home possible for one in four home borrowers and is one of the largest sources of financing for multifamily housing.
